The Shakopee Diversity Alliance (SDA) is a 501(c)(3), non-partisan organization. We’re a collective of local residents, businesses, professionals, students, and teachers.
To cultivate and embrace cultural diversity through volunteerism and education.
Goals of the Shakopee Diversity Alliance
Hold events where our residents can dialogue and better connect on issues related to cultural awareness, race and finding common ground.
Breakdown barriers impacting communities of color by interrupting inequities in our communities.
Empower and cultivate opportunities for communities of color to participate in the democratic process and be part of leadership roles in the community.
Build awareness of resources available in our community that provide services pertinent to our communities of color.
SDA consists of a working board of 17 board members, including two youth ambassadors. In order to do our work effectively, we rely on our board, volunteers, and liaisons to organize our workshops and activities. We meet on the last Thursday of the month from 6-7:30pm .
The purpose of the board is to fulfill SDA’s Mission and accomplish its Goals that focus on supporting and serving our communities of color. Board members are expected to commit at a minimum 5-6 hours a month of volunteerism.
Welcome to Shakopee neighbor!

One of the major benefits to being a part of our organization is that you get to actively decide how we engage in conversations around race and equity in our community, whether it is through festivals, listening sessions, providing tangible resources to community, or engaging local politicians.
The Shakopee Diversity Alliance is funded solely by private donations. We count on you to be able to do our work in the Shakopee community.
